P = Party

Wasn't that a party

Could have been the whiskey, might have been the gin.
Could have been three or four six-packs,
I don't know, but look at the mess I'm in,
My head is like a football, I think I'm gonna die,
Tell me, me oh me oh my,
Wasn't that a party?

Someone took a grapefruit and wore it like a hat,
I saw someone under my kitchen table, talking to my old tom cat,
They were talking about hockey and the cat was talkin' back,
Along about then everything went black,
But wasn't that a party?

I'm sure it's just my memory playin' tricks on me,
But I think I saw my buddy cuttin' down my neighbour's tree,

Could have been the whiskey, might have been the gin.
Could have been three or four six-packs,
I don't know, but look at the mess I'm in,
My head is like a football, I think I'm gonna die,
Tell me, me oh me oh my,
Wasn't that a party?

Old Billy Joe and Tommy, well they went a little far,
They were sitting in my backyard blowing on the siren in somebody's police car.
So you see, your honour,
It was all in fun,
That little bitty track meet down on main street,
Was just to see if the cops could run,
Well, they run us in to see you,
In an alcoholic haze,
I can sure use those thirty days to recover from the party.

Could have been the whiskey, might have been the gin.
Could have been three or four six-packs,
I don't know, but look at the mess I'm in,
My head is like a football, I think I'm gonna die,
Tell me, me oh me oh my,
Wasn't that a party?

You have to admit that everyone loves a party.
Be it Birthday, Anniversary, Wedding, Birth,
or just because it's not snowing anymore,
everyone usually has a great time.

Sometimes the planning is just as much fun
and with a good amount of time to do said planning,
things will go as planned.
As we all know, there is a lot to do when hosting a party.
location, availability, accessibility, affordability,
menus, licences, decorations,
etc. etc. etc.
For most parties the guest list is the easiest
simply because if you want to have a party with your friends,
then you invite your friends.
You make your choice of meals,
whether it be a sit down or a pot luck.
Pot lucks are a sure fire way to have a bit of everything
for everyone to enjoy. (and there is usually leftovers)
If you are preparing for a larger scale function,
there will be a list of people to send the invites to
and for one reason or another
you may have to do some fancy footwork,
as they say.
When we host our Annual Back Yard Bash
it is open to all of our friends
and boy oh boy
do we always have a diverse group in attendance.
Very diverse.

Some parties are spur of the moment and they can be just as fun if not more
than those which a great deal of planning is required.
Take last night....
Please,,,,
Seems one of our wise witted Stitching Sisters had an idea.
She spoke
and for the most part
we were in like Flinn.
Funny what happens when there is a fun loving group of women
and a few good bottles of wine.
oh and yes, we actually did stitch,,,,
and no frogs invaded the Landing.
HOWEVER,
next time I will wait for the morning for the clean up!
It is with a saddened heart that I report
that I was attempting to put two bowls back on the top shelf in the cupboard,
pulled the one platter out and did not even see
those Cobalt Blues tumbling down upon the granite,,,,
crash, clang, boom, bang, shatter, splitner,
and they gone!
can you say
fiddlesticks?
me neither,
or at least that was the last word I thought of at the time.....
awe well, although it really pissed me off,
I suppose I could look at it as two less glasses of wine for me......
Damn
(and yes, I did think of you Peggy....)
lesson being....
I shouldn't do that when I know I am so clumbsy...
(or should I say tippsy)
Gotta love a good cold bend in the river
With all the shards of glass cleaned up
and all is said and done,
when I think of the many parties
we have had here @ Henley's Landing,
I am so very grateful for all the fun we have had,
which in turn says how grateful I am
to have such wonderful friends
to share our lives with.

Cheers to the parties in your life....
and as that old familiar tune goes,

Wasn't that a Party???

and a bigger Cheers to singing that song
all day long...
